IMPROVE YOUR POSTURE AND CONFIDENCE
Leaning back can cause muscular strain and nerve pain. Keep your shoulders over hips.
Jody is a 35 year old mother of three small children. Since her last pregnancy, her back has ached much of the time. When carrying her baby, she often experienced sciatic nerve pain burning down her right leg, which she found distracting and upsetting. She was anxious to enjoy her baby and meet the demands of motherhood. Jody's medical exam revealed that her muscles were strained. Her x-rays showed no signs of spinal degeneration. Her physician suspected Jody's posture might be part of the problem, and he referred her to us for evaluation. We could see that Jody leaned backward when she stood and when she walked. Her upper-body weight settled into her low back and most likely compressed nerves in her spine. Holding the baby added more compression and a backward learn. We taught Jody to rebuild her core strength with every step through Dynamic Walking and Dynamic Body Exercises. She learned to use her body more efficiently when walking, doing housework, lifting, carrying, and driving. Jody was a diligent student and improved rapidly. Within three months, she no longer had any back pain. Whenever she forgot correct posture, a painful twinge reminded her to stretch back into shape. If you experience low-back or sciatic pain, you may have the same postural problem as Jody. Have a friend check your posture as you stand and walk, and see if your shoulders are over your hips, or if you tend to lean backward. To correct these problems and prevent others from occurring, order our training tapes. You'll receive a complimentary copy of exercises to bring your shoulders into alignment over your hips. You might also enjoy Video Coaching by mail. We encourage you to stop these problems before they stop you.
