ENJOY YOUR YOUTHFUL APPEARANCE
A forward head can cause pain and strain. Keep your ears over your shoulders.
Trim and energetic, Jill went to the gym regularly, lifting weights and attending aerobics classes. But she was experiencing upper and lower back pain and having frequent headaches. Jill spent her days working with young children both at home and at school. She was continually lifting, carrying, crouching and hunching forward. And when she became a computer coach, she spent even more time leaning forward. A friend suggested she see us for an evaluation. An analysis of her posture showed that she carried her head and shoulders forward, which was probably contributing to her problems. And the time she was spending in the gym was actually working against her, since she was tightening muscles in the front of her body that she needed to lengthen. We taught Jill to stretch and strengthen the major muscle groups to create a dynamic balance in her body. She found a way to stand and sit that allowed her skeleton to hold her up while her muscles remained relaxed. She applied these principles to her work day, too. She practiced Dynamic Walking to reinforce this natural posture with every step . Soon her back pains, headaches and rounded shoulders disappeared. Have a friend check your posture. (It's hard to tell if you carry your head and shoulders forward by checking yourself in the mirror.) If your chin is forward or your upper body is in front of your lower body, order our audio and video training tapes. We'll include the corrective exercises. You may want to order Video Coaching by mail. Walk with elegance, efficiency and ease, walk dynamically.
